Carisa M. Acker

Carisa treats each client with respect, concern and compassion. She takes the time to deal with the person and his/her individual needs. Carisa listens to her clients and respond to their problems.

Mrs. Acker focuses her practice primarily in the area of Criminal Law. She has experience serving a wide variety of clients in a variety of situations. Carisa’s years of experience allow her to help her clients navigate the criminal justice system effectively.

Carisa started out working as a District Attorney and now practices as a Defense Attorney. Her experience has given her the knowledge and skills she needs to assist her clients in regaining control of their lives.

Although based in Grand Junction, Carisa and Acker Law Office practice all over the Western Slope and has represented clients in places such as Meeker, Rangley, Rifle, Montrose, Delta, and Glenwood Springs as well as the Grand Junction area. Her representation includes Municipal, County and District Courts.

Background

Carisa is a graduate of the University Of Wyoming College Of Law where she appeared before the Wyoming Supreme Court prior to graduating. During her time in Law School Carisa worked at University Disability Support Services and as a Student Attorney at the Prosecution Clinic. She also interned at the Cheyenne District Attorney’s office.

Carisa started working as an attorney in Colorado shortly after moving here in 2006. She opened Acker Law Office in 2008. Carisa is a lifetime member of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar and works with various legal organizations across the state.

Carisa is an avid gardener, scuba diving enthusiast, and a conservationist. She enjoys music, cooking, hiking, playing cards, video games and traveling. She and her husband, Shon, are proud owners of one dog, one cat, three chickens, and a variety of beautiful fish. She loves to spend time with her family and friends.

Cheryl Stearns

Cheryl Stearns, a retired teacher, has been working as a Legal Assistant and Notary since she moved to Grand Junction in 2010.

Because she is frequently the first person clients speak with when they call, Cheryl strives to make each client’s experience a positive one.

Background

Cheryl received her undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas and her Masters Degree from Lesley University. She has a strong background in customer service, writing, and Spanish.

When not working at the law firm, Cheryl enjoys being an educational consultant, teaching Spanish at a local school, facilitating / attending bible studies, and traveling.
